Q — What is the best tasting gluten free bread?
I need to find a really good bread that will hold up good in a sandwitch. One that doesnt taste like cardboard and one that won't crumble. We've tried the gluten free pantry favorite sandwitch bread, I like it and find it to be a good bread but my husband doesn't like it. I dont care if it's pre made or if it's a mix, I'll take any suggestions. Thank you.

A — I cant tell u much about mixes bc I dont bake if I can help it! I like the following breads: Kinninnicks Gluten Free Breads (they have different ones, yeast free, tapicoa bread, etc.) I find them to be the most tasty for toast, grilled cheese, etc. I like Glutino's Raisin bread and cinamon raisin bread for breakfast. That being said I've yet to find a Gluten free sandwich bread taht u can just take out at room temp and make a regular sandwich with. They all basically need to be frozen and then thawed and toasted or grilled. Sorry. I havent found one yet and I've looked! Also oftenw hen u bake gluten free stuff from scratch (muffins, etc) you need to refrig them after bc they lack preservatives that keep them fresh. Hope that helped! Amy

Q — are lucerne pantry essentials spices gluten free?


A — Pantry essentials are Safeway's storebrand product line. Spices are not noted as gluten free. Herbs and spices that are essentially ONE ingredient are likely processed in a facility with gluten. Any Mixed type of seasoning such as a Montreal seasoning. Has gluten and fillers added to it. As for herbs and spices gluten-free naturally...exist. But, like so many things, they are processed in a facility that has gluten "tainted" machinery, etc. I think you should contact Safeway and inquire.
